Heuristic evaluation, user experience testing und performance analysis for a flight briefing application

In 2002, Austro Control GmbH introduced a flight briefing application that would allow pilots to create and manage flight schedules online from their homes.

To ensure the pilots would accept this new system, it was necessary to conduct a user experience evaluation in conjunction with usability testing.

The main phases of this work included:

• performing and presenting a heuristic evaluation;
• evaluating application performance;
• conducting usability tests with a group of pilots;
• assessing usability weaknesses based on scope and severity; and
• developing a multi-stage action plan to increase the system's usability, efficiency and performance.

Volksbank AG

Heuristic evaluation and expert review of a user interface requirements specification and conceptual visualisation through an interactive prototype

Volksbank AG is one of four leading financial groups in Austria, consistently ranking first in overall customer satisfaction. They needed to identify design solutions for key components of their system that would emphasise satisfaction and ease of use.

These design solutions were presented as an interactive prototype that embodied relevant interaction and user interface concepts.

The main phases of this work included:

• conducting and presenting a heuristic evaluation and expert review based on Volksbank's requirements specification;
• designing a user experience audit model for the accompanying quality assurance of a software product over several phases of development; and
• reviewing and ranking the issues according to our user experience audit model.

mobilkom austria AG

Interaction architecture and user interface design, development coaching and usability engineering for an enterprise-wide call centre and CRM solution

mobilkom austria AG is an Austrian market leader in mobile communications. The company prides itself on the efficiency and productivity of its call centre agents in dealing with customers.

They hired intuio to help them design and implement an enterprise-wide call centre and CRM solution.

Working in conjunction with our partner company Ventum Consulting, intuio was able to implement model business processes as easy-to-use, intuitive, and efficient user interface workflows.

The main phases of this work included:

• helping to manage the requirements gathering process;
• producing interaction, information and user interface designs;
• prototyping interaction and user interface concepts;
• establishing guidelines to ensure consistency in the final user interfaces;
• coaching the company's agile development team; and
• conducting iterative usability tests based on prototypes and software release cycles.

Dresdner Bank AG

User experience analysis and evaluation of the private banking website

Dresdner Bank AG is one of the largest banks in Europe. However, many of their customers still relied on in-branch interactions and telephone banking to conduct their transactions. Dresdner wanted to explore ways of transitioning a portion of these customers to web banking.

This exploration took the form of analysis and evaluation of Dresdner's existing customer website in terms of key user experience criteria. The possible solutions generated by this process were then presented as simple, yet innovative, operational concepts.

The main phases of this work included:

• producing a competitive analysis of other private banking applications;
• detailing current 'best practices' in web banking;
• conducting a usability walkthrough based on a simulation of representative end user tasks;
• performing a heuristic evaluation based on established web usability guidelines; and
• designing and presenting a three-step action plan designed to optimise the user experience.
